Women of STEM - Award Recipient
TELL US ABOUT SOMEONE WHO INSPIRES YOU AND WHY
I have two individuals that equally inspire, my parents. To this day they continue to inspire and support my aspirations. They are the hardest working individuals I know, and I owe everything to them. They both have sacrificed so much for my siblings and I to provide a better future for the three of us. They inspire me to keep going no matter how challenging and to work hard to achieve your goals. They’ve taught me to work hard and be real to yourself.
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN STEM?
My spark with technology all started at a young age. As I grew older my love for technology grew. Unfortunately, my high school did not provide any technology related subjects or activities as at the time my school lacked teachers. This gave me a fairly large disadvantage even before I started my further education at university. Luckily, the lecturers and staff here at CSU are understanding and are willing to assist me.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO ABOUT STUDYING STEM AT UNIVERSITY?
I look forward to learning new ways to solve real world problems and protect others using technology. STEM has given me a chance to learn and enhance my ability to develop new skills. I also look forward to assist others using the skills I learn no matter how big or small.
HOW WILL THIS AWARD ASSIST YOU?
This award would be beneficial for my educational goals as a full time uni student and will take away a fraction of my current financial burden and stress. This award would also assist me in meeting with other like-minded people.
WHAT JOB DO YOU HOPE TO DO AFTER FINISHING UNIVERSITY?
There’s a chance my plans will change, although I plan on pursuing a career in the cyber security department and possibly a job as a security consultant.
